nastyavarlamova_com Repeated movement as a meditative gesture turned into a structured balance within the paper frame. #fineart #abstractart #pencilartwork #artist #artforsale
nastyavarlamova_com “Happiness” , January 2026, 22x30 in (56x77 cm) pencil graphics toned paper. The whole process of creating this work, especially during the first month of the new year, was calm and intimate. I was gathering inspiration from my childhood memories, particularly from the pure joy of a rainbow “slinky,” remembered as something extraordinary and amplified by the intensity with which early emotions are held in the subconscious. The spiral functions as a perceptual device, its meditative movement and gradient color shifts are nearly hypnotic, making the act of looking an integral part of the work. The moment you touch it and hold it in your hand the endless motion begins.
nastyavarlamova_com So many sketchbook pages are always behind the scenes, somewhere between the creative process and everyday life.
nastyavarlamova_com Some processes from this long weekend
nastyavarlamova_com Some drawing process of today. Filling sketchbook pages one by one is truly a wonderful me-time.
nastyavarlamova_com This year marks the anniversary edition of the FOLIO festival — and our PIM exhibition at Galeria Nova Ogiva. Here’s how it went. This time we explored the theme of boundaries — both physical and emotional — and came to realize that all borders truly exist only in our minds. We drew self-portraits and gave voice to our inner thoughts. We transformed the angle from which the viewer looks at the work. My characters stepped beyond the edges of the paper and moved onto the walls of the gallery — and I stepped with them. For the first time, my works were taller than me, coming to life in the gallery space alongside João Francisco Vilhena photographs, where illustrators transformed into their beloved characters. We thought bigger, bolder, and brighter than we ever imagined. Under Mafalda Milhões curatorship, everything felt possible — even the things that once seemed out of reach. Come to Óbidos and see for yourself. And thanks to everyone who came yesterday❤️
nastyavarlamova_com Unstable stability – that’s how I named this piece. Even within unstable compositions, I can prop up figures that are falling or sliding off one another and discover that very stable state in which they remain forever. No matter what happens around me, I can always create my own world where nothing falls apart—even at the brink, even where it would seem everything should have crumbled long ago. It’s my personal magic) This time I decided to experiment with materials further and chose a very delicate light-blue watercolor paper that works very cute in contrast with white mount; I also used pencils from various brands, including some I had never used before—specifically, InArt—and they amazed me with their softness. It’s a pity their palette is limited but I hope it’s just a matter of time. Grateful to @ponto.das.artes for the care they took in framing my work (as usual)💙#pencilartwork #pencilgraphic
nastyavarlamova_com A little close up to my work process of the recent pencil graphics. Now with help of @ponto.das.artes in the frame it looks even better. Size 67x68 cm
