There are moments that become timeless. In Le Parc, choreographer Angelin Preljocaj created a final pas de deux that is now considered one of the most beautiful in the history of contemporary ballet. As the dancers kiss, the man begins to spin while holding his partner. She seems to lose all sense of gravity, literally flying into his arms without touching the floor. This iconic scene is known as Le baiser volant — The Flying Kiss — and has remained the signature moment of the ballet for more than 30 years.
