There is jewellery that adorns, my darling, and then there is jewellery that transforms you into something divine, a deity, a creature of myth. Van Cleef & Arpels @VanCleefArpels has achieved precisely that with their Déesse Ailée Mystérieuse, a transformable necklace and ring that I had the privilege of discovering in Paris. 💫

The Maison presents a stylised interpretation of the wings that accompanied deities in Egyptian mythology, spreading around the neck in graphic lines that blend ancient iconography with a futuristic, almost sci-fi imagination. The juxtaposition of techniques is utterly extraordinary, diamond paving in snow setting creates a sparkling constellation of stones, while velvety rubies are held using the Traditional Mystery Set technique, where the metal is completely hidden beneath the gems to create a seamless, liquid surface of colour. Rays of polished rose gold run through the creation, adding warmth and movement. 💎❤️

An extremely complicated system of articulations allows the necklace to hug the neck with flexibility, a testament to the sophistication of Van Cleef’s craftsmanship. The showstopper is a breathtakingly rare pear-shaped diamond weighing 14.05 carats, set on the side of the necklace where it reveals the full intensity of its inner fire.

Following in the tradition of Van Cleef’s transformable jewellery, this magnificent stone can be removed and mounted on a matching ring, with a motif adorned with rubies and a second pear-shaped diamond weighing 2.07 carats offering three stunning configurations. ✨

I was absolutely captivated watching Kevin Ferreira @Kevin_Arierref navigate the bustling halls of Gem Genève @gemgeneve on a very personal mission, hunting for a companion to his breathtaking 5.55 carat pear cut Paraíba.

This was not a casual stroll through the show, my darlings, this was a quest, a treasure hunt where the prize is almost impossibly elusive. 💎

Kevin knows better than anyone that when it comes to Paraíba, the colour, the size, the clarity, all of these elements present their own hurdles, but the true test of a match lies in the saturation. That electric, almost neon intensity that defines the finest Paraíba is so singular, so unique to each stone, that finding two that speak the same language of blue-green fire is a feat that borders on the miraculous.

He moved from booth to booth, his discerning eye scanning each display with the precision of a master, and I could feel the tension and the hope with every step he took. ✨
