It might seem that a separate external device would be unavoidable. But ThinKing Mystery takes a far more elegant approach: a miniature winding key is concealed inside the strap clasp. Simply slide back the protective slider, use the key, return it to its place and secure it again. Everything needed to wind the watch and set the time is therefore always, quite literally, close at hand.

k_chaykin Assembling the “Joker Iron Mask” demands absolute precision from the watchmaker. In this piece, the mechanism is fully exposed, so every detail contributes to the character’s appearance and has to be flawless. The Joker indication module comprises 140 components: they are first assembled into separate units, with their fit, interaction and surface finish carefully checked, before being brought together into a single mechanism. There are no secondary operations here: a speck of dust, a tool mark or a microscopic inaccuracy would immediately disrupt the integrity of the Wristmon’s “face”. The assembly process thus becomes meticulous handwork, in which technical complexity is made visible.

What do a watch movement and the Solar System have in common? Konstantin Chaykin searched for the answer to this question for many years and captured his reflections in the silkscreen ‘Ticking to the Moon’.
At the centre of the composition lies the Pearl‑Moon, which becomes the semantic core of the artwork. Around it, a system unfolds where the celestial order and the watch movement are inseparably linked. In this way, Chaykin conveys the idea that everything in nature carries an echo of the movement, and vice versa.
What gives this edition exceptional value is Konstantin Chaykin’s direct involvement in the preparation of the printing process. He developed the layer‑by‑layer composition, the colour separation and the stencil foundation of the future edition. The result of this laborious work is a 13‑colour silkscreen on German cotton paper with the artist’s embossing and signature. Each piece comes with a digital certificate of authenticity on a USB drive, containing a video of Chaykin personally signing and numbering the work.

k_chaykin The dragon is one of the most iconic and revered symbols in Chinese mythology and folklore. According to Eastern tradition, this mythical creature is a guardian of the water element, a master of wind and rain, and also symbolises the cyclical transition from day to night. The Asian perception of the mythical animal as an ever‑changing creature and a symbol of transition formed the basis for the blueprint of the future ‘Dragon’ Wristmon. The reel shows how the master transfers this logic onto paper, creating a blueprint of the future Wristmon. The sheet is divided into two halves, each corresponding to a specific stage in the formation of the image from an initial outline to an almost finished watch movement.

k_chaykin Step inside Konstantin Chaykin’s flagship boutique in GUM – a carefully conceived space designed not merely to display watches, but to reveal the creative world behind them. From the first steps, the boutique draws you into the master’s universe, where timepieces and sketches, rare books and watchmaking tools coexist naturally. The ground floor sets the tone for the visit: illuminated panels with original calibers, cast-iron plates bearing the “Joker” motif, and a real watchmaker’s bench at the far end of the room. On the second floor, current models are displayed alongside regularly updated museum exhibits and paintings by Konstantin Chaykin. k_chaykin Friends, a new drop is live!

From this moment and over the next 24 hours, a limited edition print by Konstantin Chaykin, “Sedmitsa”, is available for purchase. Showing different forms of time is a defining feature of Horological Art. This process is captured in the painting Mad Horological Party.

Behind the artist’s back, four characters appear in the composition. One of them is Sedmitsa. In the self-portrait, she embodies Alice in Wonderland. Her name, however, comes from an old word for the seven days of the week. Sedmitsa holds a seven-pointed star as a metaphor for cyclicity. In this way, the archetype brings painting and watchmaking together, becoming one of the oldest images of time.

To convey the depth of colour in the original large-scale painting, this print was produced using a special method – a 14-colour screen print. The image is built up in multiple stages, entirely by hand. A separate stencil is created for each colour. This craftsmanship echoes watchmaking, where the precision of every movement is decisive.

На нем за спиной автора выведены четыре героя. Одной из них стала Седмица. На автопортрете она олицетворяет Алису в Стране чудес. Но ее название – это старинное обозначение семи дней недели. В руках Седмица держит семиконечную звезду как метафору цикличности. Так архетип объединяет живопись и часовое искусство, становясь одним из древнейших образов времени.

Чтобы передать глубину палитры масштабного полотна, для этого принта выбран особый способ исполнения – четырнадцатицветная шелкография. При таком методе изображение наносится в несколько этапов, исключительно вручную. Под каждый цвет создается отдельный трафарет. Это роднит шелкографию с часовым делом, где точность каждого движения имеет решающее значение.

k_chaykin Two years ago, Konstantin Chaykin made headlines worldwide when he unveiled a prototype of the world’s thinnest mechanical watch, with a case thickness of just 1.65 mm. From the earliest concept stage, he decided that this record-breaker should be not only a technical breakthrough, but also a bold, emotionally charged object. That is why he built it around his highly successful Joker indication, where the hour and minute displays are placed on separate axes. For the master, this was the obvious engineering choice: traditional hands mounted one above the other inevitably add height. The case is a monocoque construction, with the caseback taking on the role of the movement’s mainplate. The top cover is solid as well, which also improves rigidity. Only two relatively small openings are cut for the two subdials, allowing the watch to use two paired crystals instead of a single large one.



Два года назад Константин Чайкин стал автором главной мировой сенсации, представив прототип самых тонких механических часов в мире – с толщиной корпуса всего 1,65 мм. Еще на этапе задумки он решил, что часы-рекордсмены непременно будут не только техническим прорывом, но и ярким эмоциональным объектом. Потому он решил отталкиваться от своей суперуспешной концепции джокер-индикации, при которой указатели часов и минут разносятся по разным осям. Это стало для мастера очевидным инженерным решением: ведь часовая и минутная стрелки, закрепленные одна над другой, в сумме дают бóльшую высоту. Корпус часов представляет собой монокок с задней крышкой, которая взяла на себя функцию платины механизма. Верхняя крышка корпуса сплошная, что также вносит свой вклад в повышение прочности. В ней сделаны лишь два относительно небольших окна для двух субциферблатов, что позволяет использовать вместо одного большого стекла два парных.

k_chaykin In this video, we show the intricate, multi-stage process of making the dial for the ultra-thin ThinKing watch. From the initial heat treatment and hardening of the metal, through milling and truing the edges, to the careful polishing of the inner surfaces. The final touch is laser-engraving the logo, transforming the steel component into a lively face with round “aperture” eyes and a signature smile.

k_chaykin Sometimes only video can fully convey just how painstaking the work is behind timepieces this refined. In this case, we show how the ultra-thin ThinKing was assembled – one of the Manufacture’s most striking signatures. At just 1.65 mm thick, it sets a benchmark that has yet to be surpassed. Despite its extreme slenderness, the watch is fully functional and tells the time with unmatched precision, displaying the hours and minutes exactly as intended.
A curious fact: the idea for such a model came to Konstantin Chaykin around twenty years ago, when an antique Bagnolet-type pocket-watch movement dating from the mid-19th century came into his hands. Its thickness, excluding the protrusion of the hand arbors, was about one millimetre. For Chaykin the inventor, this historic example became a challenge – he set out to create his own ultra-thin watch, bringing all of his innovative ideas together in a single piece.

Его толщина, не считая вылета осей стрелок, составляла порядка миллиметра. Для Чайкина-изобретателя этот исторический образец стал вызовом – он решил создать собственные ультратонкие часы, в которых бы были реализованы все его новаторские идеи.
