alinaashepel Today, we’re taking a closer look at why Prada, Cartier, and Louis Vuitton create art foundations, organize exhibitions, and support contemporary artists. What does art bring to a fashion brand and why has building cultural institutions become such an important part of the industry?

alinaashepel LOEWE’s collaboration with British artist David Shrigley shows how contemporary art can move beyond the gallery and into everyday life. For the house’s 180th anniversary, Shrigley created illustrations and graphic elements for a capsule collection, Loewe Magazine and selected in-store activations, while keeping his distinctive visual language intact.

alinaashepel The most beautiful exhibition of the season at the Bourse de Commerce, Cloud #07156 by Fujiko Nakaya, is on view until September 14, 2026.

Exhibitions at the Bourse de Commerce often become part of the history of contemporary art thanks to their striking exhibition designs. In her installation Cloud #07156, Japanese artist Fujiko Nakaya envelops Tadao Ando’s Rotunda in dense fog, concealing visitors and the panoramic painting behind a cloud of water vapour.

The device, developed by the artist in collaboration with engineer Thomas Mee, makes it possible to simulate natural fog using minute droplets of water. Fujiko Nakaya’s artistic practice focuses on creating such ephemeral sculptures in urban and museum spaces. The creation of immersive experiences and the transformation of our familiar perception of an environment are central to her artistic experiments.

alinaashepel Through light, sound, scent, sculpture and video, the installation invites you to imagine what reality might feel like beyond what we can see or fully understand. It’s a reminder that everything is connected, even when those connections remain invisible.

alinaashepel I've always been drawn to artists who aren't afraid to engage with deeply personal themes.

Louise Bourgeois spent much of her career exploring memory, relationships, childhood, and vulnerability, transforming intensely private experiences into some of the most recognisable sculptures of the twentieth century.

While many people know her through Maman, the monumental spider that has become an icon of contemporary art, her practice extended far beyond a single work. Over seven decades, she developed a visual language that continues to influence generations of artists working today.

What I find particularly compelling about Bourgeois is her ability to transform personal experiences into tangible forms. Her sculptures, drawings, and installations often emerged from intimate memories and emotions, yet they continue to resonate with audiences far beyond her own biography.

Few artists have explored the relationship between memory, trauma, and identity with such persistence and formal inventiveness throughout an entire career.

alinaashepel I’ve always been interested in artists who build a dialogue between the past and the present.

Flora Yukhnovich does exactly that.
Drawing from the visual language of Rococo painting, she reinterprets it through abstraction, colour and gesture, creating works that feel contemporary without losing their historical references.

What I find particularly interesting is how recognisable her paintings have become in such a short period of time. Even without knowing the title or the artist, you immediately understand whose work you’re looking at.

One of the most distinctive voices in contemporary painting today.
